About

Decaf Blog is a working notebook for engineering in the open: data pipelines, CLI tooling, reverse engineering, SEO, and the systems glue that keeps production boring.

Posts stay short, concrete, and reference-friendly. Prefer a command you can paste, a release note that matters operationally, or a technique you can reuse next week over long theory.

Topics

  • Data engineering — ETL/ELT, schedulers, CDC, batch and streaming, connectors, warehouse and lakehouse plumbing
  • Open-source tooling — release notes and change digests for tools we actually run (Airflow, n8n, dbt, ingestr, Dagster, and friends)
  • CLI and systems — bash, curl, wget, dig, SFTP, SSL, DNS, automation scripts you keep bookmarked
  • Reverse engineering — protocols, binary formats, undocumented APIs, traffic analysis, and how black boxes really behave
  • SEO and web discovery — crawlability, indexing signals, structured data, sitemaps, content structure, and how search engines see a site
  • Web and HTTP — user agents, downloads, scraping hygiene, headers, caching, and practical HTTP debugging

How posts are written

  • Operator-first — what broke, what changed, what to check
  • Copy-paste ready — commands, configs, and examples that run
  • Scoped — one problem per post when possible; no filler intros
  • Honest about limits — trade-offs and “this does not fix X” called out
